Advent Windows In Tunbridge Wells

In which I stroll around Tunbridge Wells at night looking for the magic of Christmas displayed in the shop windows of Independent Retailers.

The Childrensalon in Tunbridge Wells High Street.

This window represents class, tradition and quality. This is CS Lewis, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe mixed with Flower Fairies. This is innocence, make-believe and bed time stories told from books not games on computers. This is make-believe and magic. This is white boxes filled with expectation and anticipation. A fairy tale Christmas.

Inside you will find designer brands mixed with traditional smocking, bridesmaids mixed with Burberry. This is where you would go for that extra special baby gift or christening present.

Even though we have now past the winter solstice and it will be lighter in all sorts of ways, I realise that we do not have many hours until the big day. Continually running after that elusive time again.  But if you do have a moment visit the link I have put on for this retailer as I have deliberately chosen its history page to send you to. Here you will find a fairy story all of its own with the most fabulous black and white pictures and is a window into a world in a different time.

Stand outside this shop and look up, above the door and this is what you will see.
