Advent Windows In Tunbridge Wells

In which I stroll around Tunbridge Wells at night looking for the magic of Christmas displayed in the shop windows of Independent Retailers.

This is Fashion Carpets in Tunbridge Wells.
A family run business nestled into the High Street.
I chose this window because of the energy it displays. Very busy, a little haphazard, your eyes don't know where to settle. Snowmen, carpets, books, bells, rockets and good old Father Christmas who also looks a little bemused . Standing at the bottom of the staircase you can tell he is not sure if he should be climbing them or not, wondering if it might be safer or less noisy if he leaves his offerings downstairs.

So I find this window charming, realistic in its interpretation of family life. Because family life is messy, cluttered and the most comfortable of homes do have items out of place. Home is not an altar to perfection. So in contrast to the immaculate, idealistic representations of Christmas it is good to have a little reality. Just don't trip over the books on the way up.
